I had an interesting experience at lunch time. I was at a store in the city, buying my lunch and a few other extra little bits and pieces.
When it comes to make up, I'm a firm believer that there's not a hell of a lot of difference between the expensive stuff and the cheap stuff. Speaking generally of course, I know there are the exceptions...
So there I was, bent over, looking at the cheap powders trying to decide what colour I usually buy when I hear from behind me, "They put that cheap stuff down there for a reason you know. They should be embarrassed to be selling it."
I looked up with a half smile on my face to see a short, well groomed "gay" looking man. I turned back to the powders, choosing any old colour just to be out of there but I wasn't fast enough.
"You should come over to Myer where we've got ______ (can't remember the brand he mentioned) on sale."
Ok... I thought, I'll take the bait.
"How much is it?"
"One hundred and... (now it was either $179 or $159. Honestly I stopped listening once I heard the hundred part) dollars"
I said "hmmm, maybe next time" and I'm sure he could tell my words were dripping with sarcasm!
What was his point anyhow? Did he really think I was going to put my $13 powder away to get his expensive one? Or was he trying to show me how much better he was than me?
Now that I think about it, what the hell was he doing lurking about the make up section in a discount store anyhow? He wasn't looking for anything. He wasn't in line, he was just standing there!!
This world is made up of strange people that's for sure but that's what keeps things interesting!
